FAQ : Swaps
What even is a Clothing Swap?
Clothing Swaps are a great way to ethically add items to your closet. Everyone brings clothing they no longer want in their wardrobe. For every item you bring to the swap, you bring a “new to you” item home.
Why swap my clothes instead of donating clothes I no longer want?
At Restyle, we promote taking care of the clothing we already own through it’s lifecycle. We believe it’s our responsibility to rehome items we no longer want - instead dropping them off at the thrift store. Unfortunately, over 80% of donated clothing ends up in the landfill. Let’s help keep our clothing out of the landfill and choose to Swap instead!
How do I prepare for a Clothing Swap?
Take time to look through your closet and pick out items that you no longer wear.
-All adult sizes are welcome!
-New, vintage, gently worn
-Items from any season
Ultimately, the goal is to bring clothes you think someone else would genuinely be excited to bring home!
No rules, but there are a couple rules :)
-Please no accessories, shoes, or under garments
-No items with tears or visibly worn spots
-Please be sure to wash/clean any items before bringing to the swap
Why does it cost money to attend Restyle Clothing Swaps?
Restyle Clothing Swaps sets an admission price to help cover cost of venue space rental and/or tips for employees. The rest of the profit will go towards bettering future Restyle events. If the admission is $20 and you take home 10 “new to you” items. The value of those 10 items are most likely well beyond double the admission cost.
:) It’s a win-win for all!
